DW has it! After literally, years of research and development and discussion, the sizes were agreed upon and the Design Series Frequent Flyer drum kit became a reality. As is the case with all Design Series drums, the shells consist solely of North American maple with no reinforcement hoops giving your kit a sound that’s much bigger than meets the eye. Great post. I love the fact that you cover a span of costs low to high. Great video. Thanks for the ideas of gifts for drummers.

    1. Thanks’ Mike, glad you like the post.

  2. Good recommendation and nice post. Although I am not a music person but I listen to music a lot.

The people surrounding play music like guitar and drum. So this post lets me know what to buy for my best friends since their birthday is coming very soon.

I realize sometimes very difficult to buy the gift for them because I wanted to buy something that they will use it frequently.

Thank you for your recommendation and I believe they will like the gift I bought for them later.

    Hi Greg,

Great article! I was just looking to buy some equipment for my son as he just began to take drum courses. As he loves jazz, I am more interested in Moozikpro Jazz DrumStick set. Just a question, please. I don’t really understand how all this works, so I would like to know if these sticks can suit to any drummer? Also, do you ship out of US?

Thank you for these excellent gift ideas!

    1. Hi Daniella,

Thanks for the comment and question.

Yes, I believe he will love the Moozikpro Jazz DrumStick set and you can use the sticks for other styles of music.

As far as shipping. I don’t ship the sticks. They are sold from Amazon. You will have to check, just click on the link to see if they will ship to you. I’m not sure what country your in.

Hope that helps, if you have any more questions please let me know.

Great post Greg! I enjoyed looking at all the products you are marketing. Being a drummer myself, I am always looking for unique sites that sell drumming equipment. I will certainly be letting my hubby know what’s available on your website. Thank you for sharing an awesome post. Awesome work!

    Hi Greg,

What would you recommend as a good starter drum set?

    1. I think the Drum Workshop Design Series Frequent Flyer Kit is a great play to start.True, it’s a little more expensive than a normal starting kit.
But here’s a few good reason why:
You wouldn’t have to buy an upgraded kit later and/ or if you did get another kit later, you could always keep this one.

If you lose interest in playing the drums, The Drum Workshop Design Series Frequent Flyer Kit has a good resell value.

      Hope that helps,

      Greg

This is a great article summering up many good gift options for drummers. I wish I had read this a few years ago when my brother started to learn to play the drums and I wanted to buy him a gift. There were so many different items that I got very lost… I ended up going to a music store and buying simple drumsticks. Next time I’ll want to buy a drummer gift I’ll come back here!
    Paulina

    1. Thanks for the comment. These make great gifts year round.

  7. Great list of gifts for drummers. I’m a drummer so I’ll be sharing this with my non-drumming friends and family members. Thanks.

    1. Cool. These are not just gifts, they are great to treat yourself as well.

  8. Excellent selection of gear. Great gifts for drummers. I’m going to buy some of these for myself. 🙂

  9. Hi Greg how are you?

Just like to start by saying I’m glad I came across your site. The stuffers are a great idea.

Your site is very informative and lots of great info for people that need drum equipment and the video makes it easy to follow. I’ll pass the this site on to my friends and family.

    Cheers

    1. Thanks Jeremy.

  10. This is a great posts. Clearly, drum sticks would be an obvious gift for a drummer, but you have many other options as well. I like that you break down prices as I have a gift exchange that has a limit of $20.00. This will be helpful to find a gift for my drummer friend!

Thanks for all of the useful items all in one spot. This saved me a lot of time!

HEY! THIS IS SUCH A GREAT POST! I had no idea there were so many things to give to my drummer friends, other than just drumstick, i actually have a friend who plays and his birthday was last week, and i had no idea what to give him, so this is pretty helpful, i think the cruz Tools is a great gift, cheap, and useful, thanks a lot!

    1. Sure, Thanks for the comment.

  12. Good stuff! Really like the layout of everything. This really opened my eyes to all drummer’s accessories. Being a guitarist I never put too much thought into this but now I have some good ideas of what to buy for band. I didn’t know about Meinl Cymbals MCT Magnetic Tuners, thats a game changer.

    1. Thanks for the comment. Yeah The Meinl Cymbals MCT Magnetic Tuners are cool.

  13. Growing up I always wanted to become a drummer but unfortunately did not get around to doing so. Little did I know, after reading your post, that there were so many “bells and whistles” that came with it. All these gifts look great, and you have provided some good insight into each of them. The More Cowbell looks cool, considering getting it for my friend, hopefully it will improve his drumming.

    1. Hi Jared, Thanks for the comment. Yes, there are all kinds of cool accessories and things for drummers to bang on. Glad you found something you liked here.

Wow! You gave me some ideas I hadn’t thought of, and I’m a drummer too!

Like that you gave extra commentary via video. For those who don’t know drums at all it’s a much quicker education for them than reading everything and trying to guess what their friend or relative might want.

Haven’t come across the ching ring before. Might have to ask for one for Christmas. lol

Of course, what I really want is a Paragon crash, but… I don’t think anyone’s gonna blow that kind o’ cash on me!

    1. Cool, Thanks for the comment.

I saved your website to my favorites for future reference because I just bought a drum set for my nephew for Christmas. My brother isn’t going to like it but his son loves to play the drums. He’s always playing on buckets so I thought he should have a drum set. I did’n realize all the accessories for drummers until I came to your site.

    Thanks,

    Jack

    1. Cool, glad to be some kind of help.

As a drummer I would appreciate these gifts!!

CRUZTools looks awesome and probably every serious drummer sould have one. And Vic Firth stick candy is als a good variant for drummers who break lots of sticks or just practicing some cool stick throwing tricks.

One of my favourite sticks were Lars Ulrich signature Vic Firth drum stıcks, what do you think about them?? Which sticks you prefer using??

    1. Hi Yyler, thanks for the comment and question. I never used the Lars Ulrich drum sticks, I’ll have to give them a try sometime. I normally use the ProMark 707 or 747 drumsticks. I also use the  Zildjian Anti-Vibe Drumsticks for e drums.

  17. OMG I want that “I need more cowbell” bell, that’s hilarious! I love that comedy sketch.

Excuse my lack of knowledge when it comes to drums, my friend is a drummer but I know almost nothing about it. The “go anywhere pad”, is that just a stand to hold different drums? Or is it just like a practice pad to learn rhythms and such?

My friend lives in a small house, so drumming on his actual set is often hard. A practice one that made no noise would be perfect for him.

    1. Hey Isaya, thanks for the comment and the question. Yeah the more cowbell is a great gift even for a non-drummer. To answer your question about The DW Go anywhere pads. That are practice pads to travel with, they don’t hold real drums just pads. Hope that helps

  18. This is an great list of gifts and gadgets for drummers.

    1. Thanks

  19. Some great ideas here! I play drums and other stuff, and I already find myself wanting at least three of the things you listed.

I’m curious about that “big fat snare” ring. I’m in the market for a Black Beauty snare because of its historically awesome signature sound. I wonder if this ring would get me a part of the way to that sound… for a LOT less money!!! lol

Keep up the good work. Gear rocks!

    1. Hey TJ, The big fat snare is will dampen the ring of the snare, there are a few youtube video demos of it. Check them out.

    Hi Greg,

    Great article!

My son wants to become a drummer, so I was thinking of offering him a nice gift for his birthday. I really like the DW Design Flyer Kit. My son is short for his age, so I think this set would be excellent for him since it can be adjusted. I’ll check this further on Amazon. Thank you for this useful post!

    1. Sure, your welcome.

  21. Awesome list! Gonna buy 30 (at least!) survival kits, its just crazy the amount of felts and sleeves you can go through!
Quick question: how strong do you think the magnetic tuners would be? My touch is quite heavy and I’m worried they might fling off as soon as I hit a crash.

    1. I haven’t personally tested the Meinl Cymbals Magnetic Tuners but all the reviews I saw, there seemed to be a strong magnetic connection.

As a former drummer, I approve 🙂 These are GREAT gift ideas and I would really like to get some AHEAD drumsticks, the ones that Lars Ulrich uses. They were fine drumsticks!!

I also really like the swiss army multi-drum tools. Probably a MUST get for every drummer. And the stick caddy is an item that I would like to have.

    1. thanks

This is indeed a very informative article. I love everything about musical instruments especially guitars and drum sets. My 10 year old son just started showing a lot of interest too and began some training by a friend. These days he’s even playing in church.

I was thinking to surprise him with a birthday gift and when I shared this with his mom, she suggested that we can get him some drum set. I wonder which is your best recommendation for a 10 year boy?

    Wishing you all the best

    Paul.

    1. I would recommend the DW Design Series Frequent Flyer Kit listed above. It is a great kit for anyone and has a great resell value if he decides he’s not going to play. It’s also a kit that you don’t need to upgrade if he decides to keep playing.

    Hi Greg,

You have a lot great stuff on here for people who are already drummers. Do you have any suggestions for beginners? My nephew is a newbie and I don’t know what would be helpful. Maybe new sticks that are not handmedowns? He has large hands but is using old smaller chipped sticks.

    1. I would go to a drum shop and have him test different sticks out to see what he likes.

Hi Greg, thanks for doing this list!

My cousin is a drummer and has dabbed in both metal and blues bands, and this list gives a healthy amount of options as to what I can get him. I’m not too familiar with drum equipment, and most of the stuff on here I’m just seeing for the first time. Thank you for the unique write up.

    1. Indeed. You’re welcome.

Wow, what a huge list. Thanks Greg. I do play occasionally and there are a few cool new things I have never heard of. I also do have some drummer friends which I am sure would like many of the items on your list. A magnetic tuner for dampening effects. Very interesting. Thanks for an awesome page.

    1. You’re welcome.

  28. Greg,
Love your post for top gifts for drummers. Especially awesome that you’ve got it all arranged by price which of course is even more helpful for someone looking to buy a gift for a drummer they know.
When I was in college and a few years after I was a drummer in a band. I taught myself so I wouldn’t say I was all that good but I sure loved it. My favorite gifts for my birthday and the holidays around that time were drumsticks. I could never get enough drumsticks as I used wood primarily and was always breaking them.
I had a multi-use tool similar to what you have on your page that was a great gift I got as well.
    Great ideas!
    Mat

    1. Awesome,thanks for the comment.

  29. What an exceptional idea. I should tell my husband about this. He loves to help out with our child’s events. Whether it’s a family event like a birthday or a school event. I think people don’t give drummers enough credit at times though. This was unique and lovely. Great time to catch it too.

    1. Awesome. Thanks for the comments

  30. Hello Greg;

Wow, you may have solved the problem of what to get my nephew for Christmas. You’ve included a lot of good suggestions here.

Here’s the thing. He’s really a beginner. (His parents wish he’d move on to something else, but he seems to enjoy it. Lol) Which of these items as a gift for a drummer would you recommend as being more suitable for a beginner? Especially in the under 10 age range.

    Thanks,
    Stella 🙂

    1. Hey Stella, Drum sticks, and The DW Drum Workshop Go Anywhere Pad Set could be good for younger players to get started.

This is a real extensive and impressive review of gifts for drummers – very professional.

I will keep your list of ideas in mind and ask my Church drummers what kind of stuff they need.

I would feel very blessed to be able to support my Church drummers.

Thank you for a lot of great ideas in the right price ranges – very thorough review and the video is extremely helpful.

Your site was amazing for a layman like me when it comes to drums. I especially liked your youtube presentation as I could follow along with each item and see it on Amazon. My step son loves drumming and the Frequent Flyer Kit sounds like the ideal gift for his High School Graduation,

    1. Awesome.

  33. This caught my attention because my best firend loves to drum as well as my child. I’m not really into it actually. Anyhow, this looks like a great present for the, Especially for a guy! lol I think  these are also great learning tips.  There is always something new to learn from.

    1. thanks linda

  34. Hi,

I am into music, but always more into piano and violin.  I’ve never been a huge fan of drum, until I recently attended a classical concert where a world-renowned drummer from UK showed the the use of drums and the thousands of beautiful tones that could be brought out of these instruments.

That just caught my attention, and that is when I finally understood that there is a beauty about these products.  I believe that if a drummer accompanies other instruments and doesn’t make a variety of fine tones, it is not as nice, for me it is rather annoying to have the rhythm constantly played.

I love your choice of gifts for drummers.  Although I do not have a friend who is drummer, I might consider wishing for myself a set of Meinl Cymbals.  That is an amazing instrument, so simple but so beautiful.

Thanks for sharing a long list of great tools for drummers,

    Oscar

Wow! This is such a great detailed list for drummers! I am glad I found this before the holidays because I actually have to buy a gift for my cousin and he plays the drums in his band.

I really had a good chuckle at the “I need more cowbell” that still is my all time favourite SNL skit! Thanks for sharing this, you seem to really know your stuff and I appreciate the different cost options within the list.

I do have a questions about the “sizzler” item though, what would someone put holes in to a cymbal for? I have never heard of that before. Is it common practice?

    1. Hey The Moody Mom, Thanks for you comments and question.

The  “sizzler” does not put holes in your cymbal and you don’t need to put holes in it. Just lay the  “sizzler” on top of the cymbal and it make the sound like that. Hope that helps.

    thanks for the gift ideas.

I have a friend who likes to drum every now and then. I mean he isn’t like a fully committed drummer, he does it for a hobby. I think he would really like some drum sticks, maybe some cool styles or paints if that is possible. Thank you for the ideas.

    1. Cool.

  37. Dear Greg,

One of my friends is a Drummer in our church and as you mentioned I don’t have much knowledge on a drum so I am not sure what are the helpful gifts we can give to a drummer but your post is a greater help.

To be honest gifts with different price range is very helpful.

Drumstick is what I am planning… Promark L-Rods Lightning Rods and may I ask does it have a warranty? Thanks a lot for the great advice on 30+ Top Gifts For Drummers 2018. Wishing you great success!

    Your Friend,Paul

    1. Thanks for your comments. Drum sticks don’t come with a warranty.

  38. Hahaha! I’m not a drummer but I enjoyed reading your article, full of humour! I never new there was so much to drumming! I didn’t know you could tune a cymbal. I particularly like the T-shirt, it reminded me of Animal from the muppets! Hehe! If I find out any of my friends is a drummer, I now know what and where I can get something for them when the need arises. Thanks, Greg.

I am personally not a fan of drumming, so maybe this website may not intrest me. However this webage may strike the attention of the right people. The page gives good suggestions when it comes to buying gifts for drummers, and at the same time it shows the different items related to drumming. So that is definitely a good job on your part.

    1. Interesting. I never heard someone say there not a fan of drumming. It’s not something that it’s either hate it or like this is just something that’s usually liked but I’ll take your take on it. cool.

Drums can be a hobby for many people and especially children that want to partake in a hobby and explore and their talents, interests, and imagination which has been taken away by television and technology, it’s like everyone is living in a bubble stuck in their house on their tablet or whatever device.

I think it is great that you are sharing this article, more people need to explore their imagination and get back into being themselves and feeling free.

Have a great day and take care.

    Kind regards.

Omg been looking for this everywhere Greg! My friend is a drummer and every year I give him books which are all now collecting dust as we speak. I have no idea on what to give him and his birthday is coming up but now i do!

I’m eyeing on the Multi drum tool set, that’s perfect for gigs because he covers gigs that every week. Does it work for all types of drums, or only the electronic ones?

    1. The multi-tool is mostly for acoustic drums.

  42. This is quite a helpful article. I have never officially learned drumming, but I always have enjoyed it. I’ve only played the whole drum set like maybe three times, but I play something like Deccabons quite often. I just have a rhythm for percussion instruments. I guess when you just enjoy it, you don’t even need to learn much – you just get the hang of it quite quickly. That said, I was wondering what your suggestion would be to maybe be a little better in drums. Whether I’m gifting it to a friend of myself, is there a drum set that you would recommend?

    1. I would recommend the DW Design Series Frequent Flyer Kit that’s listed above. DW make some of the best drums in the world and although that’s a smaller kit , it’s great for just about every style of music except heavy metal.

  43. This is so brilliant that I found this site

My daughter is a drummer and there are some really great gift ideas for me to buy here for Xmas

I often struggle searching for awesome different types of gifts instead of the normal boring presents and this site is awesome!!!

Wow, what a great way to help drummers and so many people are going to love visiting here to go shopping

I for one am off to get some brushes and the tool kit for my daughter now so thank you so much

    1. You’re welcome.

  44. I have only just started to learn to play the drums.  Well I say just started.  This was two years ago.  I have come a long way but no where near where I want to be yet.  There are some many cool things listed on your site.  After going through your article I am especially interested in the Monso M80 drumstick case.  This would be a really nice addition for me.  I am so happy this is being sold in the UK and think its time to treat myself.

  45. Greg this is a banging and informational website.I love jazz and reminds me of a station that would play this kind of music and it would help me remove any negative feelings and thoughts. The layout of your website flows and it is not cluttered with anything that would distract a listener.

    1. Thanks

Wow some of those drum gadgets and accessories look really cool. Unfortunately I don’t play drums, but some of those products make me want to try haha. I will definitely keep this article in mind should I come across any drummers in need of a gift. Do you use any of these products personally?

    1. Yes I use a lot of these products or have used them.

Although I don’t have great knowledge about drums I was interested to read your post with a view to Christmas gifts and grandchildren.  There’s one young fellow who has a leaning towards musical instruments and various sounds that can be produced.  I’m not sure how his parents would respond to giving him a drum for Christmas. But, at a low cost I can’t see any harm in that, and at least it would give him the opportunity to try his skill and see if drums will be party of his future enjoyment.

Something that intrigued me is the various components relating to the use of drums. For instance GrooveTech Drum Multi-Tool  to remedy problems.   Also, the different tools to produce sound from a drum such as Broomsticks and Rods.  I would not have guessed the various requirements for producing sound.

I look forward to revisiting your site and seeing the new products you will be including as they are available.

    1. Thanks

Wow! I really appreciate the video you made with this article! It was awesome to see you run through the article. Personally, I prefer to watch videos than to be on a website and just read. Thank you so much for sharing this amazing content. I have a friend who’s a drummer in a band and the holiday season is coming up soon. Thanks for the ideas and thank you for sharing!

    1. Sure, You’re welcome.

  49. This is a lot of useful information! I didn’t know that drummers had to have all of these things. I thought drums was only drums, sticks & a couple of other things. I can see how this can be a difficult instrument to learn & perform. Some of these gifts I’ve never seen before like the Latin Percussion, tubular bells, & percussion pad. It doesn’t seem cheap to be a drummer! Rachel

    1. Thanks for your comment Rachel.

    What’s up Greg?

HA! What a great holiday posts for the loved ones for any musician. I appreciate how you broke all the items into separate price ranges for easy reading. I’m a musician myself but not a drummer and I  STILL have no clue what I would get for any of my drummer friends, but, after reading your informative post, not any more! lol

Whoa! I didn’t know MONO made drumstick and cymbal cases. That’s awesome! They make FANTASTIC cases of guitarists, I would imagine these are nothing short of amazing too. If I were shopping for something in $100-200 range for my buddy they would be my first picks so thanks for mentioning those.

Thank you for including that DW Frequent Flyer drum kit set as well. I feel that is especially useful for most drummers. They provide such a valuable asset to every band and genre but you got to feel bad for them when they are setting up and breaking down…what a chore! I know most gripe about how their travel kits don’t have the same punch and kick as their expensive at-home big sets, but if I was ever going to take a risk of buying something big I’d put my bet on this one!

I also liked how you included some jazz backing tracks for drummers to play to… we all know you guys always want some grooves to play to!

    Great post. Cheers.

    —Francesco

    1. You’re welcome and thanks for the comments.

  51. Wow, I’ve never known there can be good ways to gift a drummer. My daughter is having classes for drums last year but I don’t know what to buy her but only drums sticks. With your gift suggestions here, I now know what to buy for her. However, I prefer the chopping board, since I’m a cook.

    Thanks for this good guide.

    1. Sure, you’re welcome.

  52. Very interesting article, especially since I would have no earthly idea of where to start in looking for a gift for the drummers that I know. Most of them play the drums in church. I was thinking that most of them had pretty much everything that they needed. I did’t realize that there were so many options. I think that the video was an excellent idea, really helped me understand the content better. I’m a more visual person and that made it so much easier to follow.

    1. You’re welcome.

  53. This is super brilliant. I had NO IDEA there was so many different gift type accessories for drummers. I am all about encouraging ones passion no matter what. An my young Neph is getting into jamming a bit on the drums.

He has a good drum kit, and I have been boggling my mind with what we can get him to keep the inspiration, and here ya go. You have made this so much easier and I am very grateful that you have got them all in one place:).

    1. Thanks

I discovered 100% new stuff about drumming in this article. This is a domain I’ve never ever exploited, perhaps it’s because we don’t have musicians in our family.

But you provided all the relevant details needed. The Christmas season is fast approaching. I’m bookmarking this page for future reference because I feel like I will have some use for it soon.

Thanks for such a great article.

    Hi, Greg!

This was a really interesting round-up.

I play only the piano, and I face difficulties finding the right gifts for my drumming relatives. It’s even more difficult because most of them possess an “army of weapons” (that’s what they call their instruments and tools).

I like that you included the T-shirt and drumstick/cymbal case. These might make great gifts for drummers who are seemingly well-equipped.

    1. Thanks for your thoughts.

  56. There sure is a lot of gifts you can choose from that are related to the drums and that are practical. I have never really played the drums before, but I love listening to them, like Phil collins playing in the air tonight. At high school I wanted to start drumming lessons, but ended up playing steel pans instead. But would love to have a go at playing the drums.

You have done a great write up on all of these interesting gifts.

    1. Thanks

    Greg,

My grandson loves to play the drums. Thank you for the great ideas of gifts to buy for drummers. You are right, there were many things I never would have thought of because prior to your article, this is what I knew of drums, there was a drum or a drum set and some sticks.

I liked the info on the Zildjian Drummer Survival Kit. I didn’t even know those things were things! My grandson probably mentioned them, but when you aren’t sure what they are talking about, well, it kind of goes in one ear and out the other.

I also liked the “Swiss Army Knife” for drummers repair tool. My grandson fell in love with this one and immediately put it on his Christmas wish list.

I think he will also be getting the Vic Firth Stick Caddy to store his sticks which will not only make him happy, but also his mother so she won’t have to pick them up! He also liked the  M80 Stick bag, but this grandma is on a fixed income!

Thank you, too, for sharing the free jazz tracks without drums links. He said that he will use them frequently.

    1. Awesome. Thanks for the comments

    Hello again Greg,

I decided not to take the multi-drum tool set as it doesn’t suit my drummer friend and plus, he already has something similar. I’m looking at the Roland SPD-SX Sampling Percussion Pad, man that is a beast! Does it have a pad check to mute sounds when performing?

    1. Im not sure about the mute.
